Circus Oz was founded in 1978.

The Circus Oz Living Archive was created in 2014 for an ARC Linkage Project led by David Carlin. The team dug out most of the materials from dusty shelves in the Circus Oz archive room and a highly skilled team from RMIT University, including Reuben Stanton, Lukman Iwan and Kim Baston, devised the Living Archive. (For full credits see the link on the homepage).

This site is not currently adding video content but it includes documentation of performances, interviews, rehearsals, documentaries and promotional footage from the 1970s to 2012.Some footage exists beyond 2012 but has not been made public yet.

In 2020, the Archive began being revived and its functions restored and as of 2022 is now fully available again for public access. There are plans to add further, linked content to an extended Circus Oz collection in future.
